Sleep Apnea Treatment A mandibular advancement device(MAD) is an option to treat obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It works by moving the jaw and tongue forward to increase oxygen consumption and prevent snoring. A CPAP still continues to be the standard of care for the treatment of OSA.What is the procedure for a MAD?After determining you are a candidate for a MAD, we use our intraoral scanner to send your models digitally to a laboratory for the custom device to be fabricated. There are a number of follow up appointments to ensure that the device is working for you. A new sleep study will be required once the device is fitted. To see if you are a candidate for a MAD, please discuss with Dr. Kloenne. |
